Private HR Situation Review

A woman lit only by her phone at night, reading something for the third time

It is 2 a.m. and you are reading the same page again. The meeting is over, but you are still in it. You are going back over every word, every look, every thing you wish you had said.

And every article you open tells you something different. Fight it. Quit now. Sign it. Do not sign it. Get a lawyer. Stay calm.

Everyone around you has a reason to leave something out

Your manager is protecting the company. HR is protecting the company. Your friends are protecting your feelings. And an attorney will bill you for the first hour before you even know whether you need one.

Nobody is sitting on your side of the table. That is the real problem. It is bigger than the paper in your hand.

What it looks like from the HR side of the desk

A performance plan can be a real chance to turn things around. It can also be a record being built so a decision that is already made looks fair. From where you sit, those two look exactly the same. From where I sat for thirty years, they do not.

What you do in the first 24 hours, what you put in writing, and what you say in your next meeting can change which one of those you are in.

A private review of your situation, written for you

You tell me what is happening. I read every word. Within 48 hours you get a written plan built for your exact situation. It is not a template and it is not a form letter.

Inside your review:

  • What is really going on, read from the HR side. Is it a real plan or a paper trail, and what they are likely to do next.
  • What to say and what not to say in your next meeting, in words you can actually use.
  • Your written response, drafted and ready to send, when your situation calls for one.
  • Plan A (stay and turn it around) and Plan B (leave on your terms), with your first seven days laid out.
  • One follow-up question, answered within 7 days.

How it works

  1. Start your review. Your intake form opens right after you pay.
  2. Tell me what happened. Ten questions, about fifteen minutes. Skip anything you are not sure about.
  3. Get your plan within 48 hours. It comes to the email you give me, signed off by me.

$199

Founding price for the first 10 reviews. It goes to $249 after that.

One payment. Your intake form opens right after you pay.

Many employment lawyers charge several hundred dollars just for a first consultation. This is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a lawyer when you need one. It is the clear head you need before you decide whether you do.

Who this is for

  • You are employed, and your job and your income are worth protecting.
  • You just got a performance plan, a written warning, a review you do not agree with, or a "we need to talk" meeting.
  • Your manager's attitude changed and you cannot figure out why.

This is not the right fit if you are describing discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or a safety problem. Those can involve legal rights with deadlines, so please talk to an employment attorney. If I think you need one, I will tell you and tell you what to bring.

What I promise you

I cannot promise how your situation ends. No honest person can. I can promise you will walk into your next meeting knowing what you are doing and why.

If I read your answers and I am not the right help for your situation, I will tell you and refund you in full. I never contact your employer. What you tell me is used only to prepare your review.

I am Marisol Valle. I have spent thirty years in HR, in the room where these decisions get made. I built this review for the person on the other side of the table.

Questions

Will my employer know?

No. I never contact your employer.

What if my meeting is tomorrow?

Say so on the form. I will tell you honestly whether I can reach you in time.

Do I need documents?

If you have the plan, warning, or review in writing, it helps. After you submit the form, you will see where to send it.

How is this different from the PIP Playbook?

The Playbook is a general guide for anyone on a performance plan. This review is written about your situation, your manager, and your next meeting.

General HR guidance, not legal advice. Marisol Valle is not your attorney, and no attorney-client relationship is created by this service.
